Online Video Rental FAQ:
Here are some common questions and answers that people have when looking
for the right online DVD rental service. If you have some additional questions
or would like to see some addition FAQ's, please contact us and let us know.
Q: Do I actually need this?
A: Maybe yes, maybe no. If you know what movies you want to rent in advance, then these are great
services. If you are a spontaneous renter, you may want to try one of the non-subscription services.
Q: What does it cost, and what do I get?
A: Each program has a different price, and a different rental model. As a general rule, you
should look to compare price on equivalent rental policies. Most providers allow 3 movies out
at a time, that is a pretty good price comparison point.
Q: Am I saving money on this?
A: If you rent about 3 movies a month, most services are about even with renting from your
local video store.
Q: Can I try it for FREE?
A: Many of the services give you a free trial. The trials are usually for a limited time
and for a limited number of titles, but it can give you a pretty good idea of how they work.
Q: What if something goes wrong?
A: Most, if not all, reputable companies will have telephone and/or email support
for their customers. The services that we recommend all have some support option available.
For details on how to get in touch with our recommended services, please take a look at our
online DVD rental service comparison grid.
Q: How do I pay for this?
A: All services accept credit cards for payment. Netflix accepts online checks for their service
in addition to credit cards.
Q: What is the best choice of service?
A: This is a choice that you have to make for yourself, based on your own preferences and
habits. Take a look at the comparison grid for a list of competitive features.
Q: Can I buy the movies, or just rent them?
A: This depends on the service that you use. As of today, most services will allow you to purchase
rented movies. If you are looking to buy movies without renting them, you may want
to try DVD Overnight.
Q: What about the cost of delivery, that's where they get you?
A: The cost of shipping, delivery, and handling are all included in the price of
the best providers. If there is an additional charge, you probably want to think about
switching services for you online DVD rentals.
